Hostshare Membership Tiers — Overview

Explanation of all four Hostshare Membership Tiers

Written by Faith W

Hostshare is a members-only platform built for short-term rental hosts. You share your unbooked nights with other hosts, and in return you stay at their homes for only the cleaning fee — no nightly rates, ever. Your membership tier determines how many nights you receive upfront, whether you have a share contract, and how many credits you get to offset fees.

Four Membership Tiers

Which tier is right for you?

  • Starter is perfect for first-time members who want to explore the platform for free.

  • Starter Plus suits occasional travelers who want their nights to never expire, with no annual commitment.

  • Pro is our most popular tier — ideal for hosts who travel a few times a year and want credits to offset their fees.

  • Max is built for frequent travelers, with the most nights upfront and a $1,000 credits balance that covers fees across multiple trips.

Founding Members

Existing members who joined before the 2.0 launch are grandfathered as Founding Members — permanently locked at $395/year with Max tier access, a Founding Member badge on their profile, and $1,000 in credits (if blockout dates are set during the migration period; $100 if not). Credits renew at $100 each year going forward.

Your Nights & Credits Wallet

Every member has a wallet showing your current nights and credits balance. Nights roll over and accumulate year over year for as long as you stay an active subscriber — your nights are yours to keep. There are two types of each:

  • Granted — given upfront with your tier at signup and renewal

  • Earned — accumulated when guests complete stays at your property, or through reviews, referrals, and promotions

How credits work

Credits are worth $1 each and apply directly to the Hostshare service fee at checkout — automatically, with no codes or manual steps. Credits can only be applied to the service fee, never to cleaning fees, which are always paid separately to the host. For Max members with a full credits balance, this means most trips cost nothing beyond cleaning. [Learn more about how credits and your wallet work →]

The Hostshare service fee

Hostshare charges one simple service fee on every booking — 15% of the comparable Airbnb price for the dates you're staying. This single fee covers everything, including damage protection. There are no nightly rates and no hidden charges. [Learn more about the breakdown of fees at booking →]

How the share contract works

Pro and Max members have a membership-level share contract — one contract covering all your listings combined. The number of nights you share is calculated based on your tier's base nights and your average nightly rate relative to the platform average. Higher-value properties share fewer nights; lower-value properties share more. If your property is fully booked through other platforms, there's nothing to share — no obligation. Protecting your dates with blockout days

Every member gets 200 blockout days per year to protect your peak revenue nights, your busiest season, or any dates your home simply isn't available. Hostshare only shares what's left after your blockouts, so you stay fully in control of your calendar. [Learn more about how blockout dates work →]

Upgrading or downgrading

Upgrades are always lossless — all your existing nights and credits carry over, and you receive the difference between tiers immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing cycle. Granted nights and credits are forfeited when you downgrade, but your earned nights and credits are always yours to keep — unless you drop to Starter or cancel entirely.
