What is the 7-Day Buffer?
The 7-Day Buffer is an optional setting that helps hosts avoid overlapping Hostshare stays and preserve flexibility for revenue-generating bookings.
When enabled, Hostshare will automatically:
Block the nights leading up to a Hostshare guest’s check-in date, and
Block the 7 nights following the guest’s check-out date
These blocked dates apply only on Hostshare, meaning they remain open on Airbnb, VRBO, and your PMS, ensuring you still earn paid bookings during this period.
Why Does Hostshare Have a 7-Day Buffer?
At Hostshare, our priority is hosts first. This buffer is designed to help hosts maximize their earnings by ensuring that revenue-based bookings take priority. Here’s why it benefits users:
More Control Over Your Calendar – The buffer prevents immediate back-to-back Hostshare stays, allowing hosts to keep their options open for paid reservations.
Maximized Revenue – Since the buffer only applies to Hostshare and not Airbnb or other platforms, hosts can still accept paid bookings during the buffer period.
Better Hosting Flexibility – By keeping dates open for revenue bookings first, hosts can optimize your rental strategy while still participating in Hostshare.
How Does It Work?
Here’s how the system behaves when the buffer is turned on:
Hostshare booking is confirmed
→ Hostshare blocks the nights leading up to check-in.Guest checks out
→ A 7-day block is automatically placed on your Hostshare calendar.These blocked dates remain open
→ You can still receive Airbnb/Vrbo/PMS bookings during this time.After the 7-day period ends
→ If the dates are open on other platforms, they become bookable again on Hostshare.Booking extensions
→ Hostshare guests can extend their stay one time, as long as those dates are open on Airbnb and you approve the extension.
Where to Turn the 7-Day Buffer On or Off
Hosts can choose whether to use the buffer or turn it off to allow back-to-back Hostshare bookings.
To manage this setting:
Open your Listing Settings
Go to Pricing & Availability
Scroll down to Availability
Toggle the buffer on or off at any time (as long as it does not affect a booking already made on the platform. Users are not able to turn on booking buffer in order to cancel a confirmed booking).
When turned off, Hostshare will not automatically block dates before or after a reservation.
