Welcome to Hostshare! Below are the key booking policies to help you travel confidently and understand how the platform works for both guests and hosts.
Availability
Only properties with available shared nights within the next 5 days will appear on the Hostshare map and in your search results. If a property is fully booked or has no nights left to share, it will not be visible and will display crossed-out dates.
Fees & Cost Breakdown
There are no nightly rates or platform service fees on Hostshare. Guests only pay:
Cleaning Fee (set by the host)
5% Processing Fee
$15 Damage Protection Fee
Cleaning Fee
Each host sets their own cleaning fee based on the cost to clean and reset their property. Learn more about how cleaning fees are set here.
Processing Fee
Hostshare charges a flat 5% processing fee, significantly lower than the 15–25% service fees on other platforms. This fee covers credit card processing, tax calculations, and payouts to hosts.
Damage Protection
Every booking includes a $15 damage protection charge, which covers up to $50,000 in damage. This gives hosts peace of mind while keeping added guest costs reasonable. Learn more here.
Who Can Book
The person making the reservation must be present during the stay. Bookings made on behalf of someone else are not allowed. This helps ensure accountability, identity verification, and a safe experience for both guests and hosts.
Host & Guest Communication
After a booking is confirmed, both the host and guest will receive a confirmation email with contact details. Guests should use this to:
Coordinate check-in
Ask questions
Receive arrival instructions

Guest Cancellation Policy
Free Cancellation Within 12 Hours
Guests may cancel for free within 12 hours of making a booking.
If canceled within this window:
A full refund will be issued
Shared nights will be reinstated to your account
This grace period allows flexibility for guests while helping protect hosts from last-minute cancellations after preparation begins.
After 12 Hours – Non-Refundable
Once the 12-hour window has passed:
No refund will be issued
Shared nights will not be returned
This policy ensures consistency, reliability, and planning stability for all members of the platform.
Verified Booking Issues
If your stay is affected by a verified issue—such as an unresponsive host, the property being unavailable, or another condition that prevents the stay—you will receive:
A full refund
Your free nights reinstated, regardless of when the issue is reported
Amenities & Rules
You can review property amenities and house rules by viewing the Hostshare listing or the host’s linked Airbnb listing before booking. Please review these carefully to ensure the property aligns with your needs and expectations.
Pet Policy
Each property has its own pet policy, including specific rules, restrictions, and potential fees. Guests should refer to the host’s Airbnb listing for full details and must follow all pet-related guidelines during their stay. Hosts may decline bookings that do not comply with their pet requirements.
Service & Emotional Support Animals
Guests with service animals are protected under federal law and are not required to provide documentation. Hosts may only ask:
Whether the animal is required due to a disability
What tasks the animal is trained to perform
For emotional support animals (ESAs), documentation may be requested. All animals must follow house rules related to behavior and cleanliness. Damage or disruption caused by any animal may result in additional fees.

Minimum & Maximum Night Requirements
There is no minimum stay — guests may book even a 1-night stay
The maximum stay is 5 nights, as long as the dates fall within the current 5-day booking window
The cleaning fee applies regardless of the number of nights booked
Extending a Stay
You may request a one-time extension if:
The additional nights are available
The new dates are still within the 5-day window
The host approves the extension
To request an extension, please contact the host directly. If approved, our support team will update your reservation.
