Hostshare Booking Guidelines

Availability

Properties with available nights to share (in that five day window) will show up on the Hostshare map and in your search. If a property's shared nights have all been used or they are already booked, the listing won't be visible to book and will show dates crossed out.

Fee Structure

There are no nightly rates or service fees when booking on the Hostshare platform. Users are only required to pay the host’s cleaning fee when making a booking as well as a small processing fee and for damage protection during their stay.

Cleaning Fee: See more info on how cleaning fees are set here.

Low Fees for Guests: In a market where service fees can often obscure the true cost of stays, Hostshare stands out by maintaining one of the lowest fee structures. Guests are only required to pay a 5% processing fee, significantly lower than the typical 15%-25% "service fee" charged by other platforms. This fee covers the costs associated with processing payments via credit card, calculating taxes, and handling payouts, ensuring a smooth transaction between guests and hosts.

Damage Protection Charge: To further protect our hosts, we include a flat-rate damage protection charge of $15 per booking. This nominal fee provides up to $50,000 in damage protection, offering peace of mind to hosts while keeping additional costs for guests reasonable and transparent. See more info on this here.

Booking Party

Users are not permitted to book a stay on behalf of someone else; **the individual making the reservation must be present during the stay.** This ensures a smooth and secure experience for everyone involved and helps us verify identities and maintain accountability, which is crucial for the safety of both guests and property owners.

Communication Between Host and Guest

Both the guest and the host will receive a confirmation email upon booking which includes the information needed to communicate with one another. This is how you, the guest, will receive your check-in instructions and ask any questions you may have. This information can also be viewed under “bookings” on your user dashboard.

Cancellation Policy

Users can cancel for free within one hour of booking a stay. This policy is in place to give users the chance to cancel if there was an error when booking or a change in circumstances.

If you cancel your stay within this window, you will receive:

  • A full refund of any payment made.

  • Reinstatement of any free nights used for the booking.

This policy also gives hosts peace of mind, knowing that there will not be a last minute cancellation after accommodations have been made for their property.

After the one-hour booking window, your booking becomes non-refundable. We enforce this policy to provide stability and assurance for both our hosts and guests planning their stay. If you cancel your booking beyond the one-hour free cancellation period:

  • You will not receive a refund for your stay.

  • Any free nights applied to the booking will not be returned to your account.

This policy helps ensure that our hosts can manage their properties effectively and that guests are committed to their bookings.

Amenities & Rules

Amenities & Rules are available to view on a Hostshare listing or via the host’s Airbnb listing URL before booking a stay. Users are encouraged to carefully review the host's amenities & rules before booking to ensure the property aligns with their needs and expectations for a comfortable stay.

Pet Policy

Each property has a distinct pet policy, which may include specific rules, restrictions, and fees. We request that you refer to the pet policy listed on the host's Airbnb listing for the property you’re interested in booking. The guest must follow all necessary protocols for accommodating their pet during their stay. Hosts reserve the right to deny accommodations for a pet.

Guests bringing a service animal or ESA are expected to adhere to the property’s general rules for cleanliness and behavior. Any disruption or damage caused by the animal may result in additional fees, at the host’s discretion. The host reserves the right to request appropriate documentation to verify an animal’s status as an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) or service animal before accommodating the booking.

Minimum & Maximum Night Requirement

Since last minute, non revenue nights are being booked, there is no minimum night requirement for stays. Users pay the standard cleaning fee even if only one night is booked. The maximum amount of nights that can be booked is five nights as long as the nights are within the five day booking window.

Extending a Stay

A one-time extension is allowed per booking if nights are available and within the five day booking window. User must reach out and get approval from the host for the extension before the reservation change can be made by the Hostshare support team.
