Hostshare’s Non-Discrimination Policy

Hostshare is a community built on trust, respect, and shared hospitality. We believe everyone should be treated fairly and given equal opportunity to participate—regardless of personal background or circumstances.

Our Commitment

Discrimination has no place on Hostshare. This includes any refusal to host, making derogatory comments, or applying different terms based on:

  • Race or ethnicity

  • National origin

  • Color

  • Religion

  • Gender identity or expression

  • Sexual orientation

  • Age

  • Disability (including the use of service animals)

  • Marital status

  • Citizenship status

  • Pregnancy or parental status

  • Veteran status

  • Presence of a service animal

  • Any other characteristic protected under applicable laws

Expectations for Hosts

Hosts on Hostshare must:

  • Treat all guests with dignity and respect.

  • Make housing decisions based on availability and property suitability—not personal characteristics of the guest.

  • Provide reasonable accommodations for guests with disabilities, including those traveling with service animals.

  • Avoid imposing personal preferences that violate this policy, even if unintentionally.

Service Animals

Hosts are required to accommodate guests with service animals, regardless of personal pet policies. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Service animals are not pets and are legally protected under disability laws.

  • You may not charge additional fees or deposits for a guest traveling with a service animal.

  • You may not decline a booking solely because a guest is traveling with a service animal, even if your listing has a "no pets" policy.

  • You are welcome to ask the guest:

    • If the animal is required because of a disability, and

    • What work or task the animal has been trained to perform.
You may not ask for documentation or require the animal to wear identification.

Expectations for Travelers

Guests using Hostshare should:

  • Treat hosts and their properties with the same respect you’d expect when opening your own home.

  • Refrain from making assumptions or judgments about a host’s background, identity, or beliefs.

  • Communicate openly and respectfully when coordinating a stay, especially if traveling with a service animal or specific accessibility needs.

Enforcement and Reporting

We take reports of discrimination seriously. If you believe you’ve experienced or witnessed discrimination on the platform:

  1. Report the incident through our in-app messaging or by emailing [email protected].

  2. Include as much detail as possible so our team can investigate promptly and fairly.

  3. We may take action, including but not limited to education, listing suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.

A Community Built on Trust

We understand that misunderstandings can happen. When they do, we aim to foster accountability through education and dialogue. However, repeated or intentional violations of this policy may result in removal from the Hostshare community. By upholding these values, you help ensure that Hostshare remains a reliable and welcoming platform for all members.
